NajahStudy.in (“NajahStudy”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the NajahStudy.in mobile application (the “App”) available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The App provides online teaching, curated video lectures, and exam preparation resources for students preparing for JEE, NEET, NDA, and LAW entrance examinations.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect your personal information when you use the App. By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

This Policy is published in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), and applicable requirements of Google Play and the Apple App Store.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information when you use the App:

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: Name, email address, mobile number, password, date of birth, and profile photograph (optional). Sign-up using email or mobile number is required to access the App.
  • Educational Information: Class/grade, target examination (JEE, NEET, NDA, or LAW), target exam year, preferred language, school or coaching institute (optional), and city or state of residence.
  • Communications: Information you provide when you contact our support team, submit feedback, or participate in surveys and feedback forms.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers (such as Android ID or iOS IDFV), mobile network information, and browser type.
  • Usage Data: Screens viewed, features used, video lectures watched, watch duration, quiz attempts, scores, learning progress, click streams, and crash logs.
  • Log Data: IP address, access times, application errors, and referring sources.
  • Location Data: Approximate location inferred from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: Session identifiers and analytics tokens used to maintain your login session and measure App performance.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Authentication Providers: If you sign in using Google, Apple, or other social login (where supported), we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from that provider.
  • Analytics Providers: We use Google Firebase Analytics and Google Analytics, which provide us with aggregated and anonymized usage data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To create and manage your user account and authenticate your access to the App.
  • To deliver curated educational content, embedded video lectures, and exam preparation resources for JEE, NEET, NDA, and LAW.
  • To stream embedded video content and recommend lessons aligned to your selected target exam.
  • To track your learning progress and provide personalized study recommendations.
  • To send push notifications such as class reminders, new content alerts, test schedules, and important announcements (subject to your device permission).
  • To improve the App through analytics, A/B testing, performance monitoring, and bug fixing.
  • To respond to your inquiries, complaints, and customer support requests.
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, technical issues, or security breaches.
  • To comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders, and lawful requests from government authorities.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal information based on one or more of the following legal grounds:

  • Consent: When you provide explicit consent during registration or while granting specific permissions.
  • Contractual Necessity: To deliver the educational services you have signed up for.
  • Legitimate Interests: To improve our services, ensure security, and operate our business.
  • Legal Obligation: To comply with applicable laws and regulations.

4. Use by Students Under 18 Years of Age

The App is designed for students preparing for competitive examinations, and we recognize that many JEE, NEET, NDA, and LAW aspirants are between 13 and 18 years of age.

  • Users below 13 years of age are not permitted to register for or use the App.
  • If you are between 13 and 17 years of age, we encourage you to register and use the App with the knowledge, supervision, and guidance of a parent or legal guardian. By registering, you confirm that your parent or guardian is aware of your use of the App.
  • Parents and guardians may review, modify, or request deletion of their child’s personal information at any time by contacting us at info@najahstudy.in.
  • We collect only the minimum personal information reasonably necessary to provide the educational services.
  • We do not show personalized or behavioral advertising to users identified as minors.
  • We do not use minors’ personal data for any purpose unrelated to providing the educational services.
  • If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, or from a minor in a manner inconsistent with applicable law, we will delete that information promptly.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With trusted third-party vendors that help us operate the App, including cloud hosting providers (such as Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud), analytics providers (Google Firebase, Google Analytics), embedded video providers (such as YouTube via the YouTube IFrame API), and email/SMS gateway providers. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
  • Educators and Academic Team: Limited information such as your name and learning progress may be accessed by the academic team within NajahStudy.in to deliver teaching support.
  • Legal Compliance: When required to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to respond to lawful requests from government authorities.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the successor entity, subject to confidentiality safeguards.
  • With Your Consent: For any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection or with your explicit consent.

6. Data Storage, Transfer, and Retention

  • Your personal information is stored on secure servers, primarily located in India and other regions where our cloud providers operate.
  • Where data is transferred outside India, we ensure appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable data protection laws.
  • We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the services.
  • After account deletion, we may retain certain information for a reasonable period to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
  • Anonymized or aggregated data that cannot reasonably identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include:

  • Encryption of data in transit using TLS/SSL protocols.
  • Encryption of sensitive data at rest where applicable.
  • Access controls limiting employee access to personal information on a need-to-know basis.
  • Regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and monitoring.
  • Secure password hashing.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law, you have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

  • Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to Correction: Request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Right to Deletion: Request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw any consent you previously gave us; this will not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
  • Right to Data Portability: Request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Right to Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to Grievance Redressal: Lodge a complaint with our Grievance Officer (see Section 13) or with the Data Protection Board of India.

9. Push Notifications

  • With your permission, we send push notifications about class reminders, new content, test schedules, and important announcements.
  • You may disable push notifications at any time through your device settings or in-app preferences.
  • Service-related communications (such as security alerts and important account notices) cannot be disabled while you have an active account.

10. Third-Party Services and Embedded Content

The App curates and embeds third-party educational content, primarily from YouTube, using the YouTube IFrame API and YouTube’s official embed mechanisms. When you view such embedded content:

  • YouTube (operated by Google LLC) may collect data about you, including IP address, device information, and viewing behavior, in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy (available at https://policies.google.com/privacy).
  • Embedded videos are subject to YouTube’s Terms of Service, which you accept by viewing such content. The YouTube Terms of Service are available at https://www.youtube.com/t/terms.
  • NajahStudy does not host, store, or control the embedded video content; we only provide curated links and embed players within the App.

The following third-party services may also be integrated within the App:

  • Google Firebase (analytics, crash reporting, push notifications, authentication).
  • Google Analytics.
  • Cloud hosting and content delivery networks.
  • Customer support and helpdesk tools.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.

11. Device Permissions

The App may request the following permissions on your device. You may grant or deny these at any time through your device settings:

  • Storage: To download study material for offline access and to cache content.
  • Notifications: To send class and content reminders.
  • Network State: To detect internet connectivity for video streaming.
  • Camera (optional): To capture a profile photograph, if you choose to upload one.
  • Approximate Location: To deliver region-specific content and language preferences.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email at least 7 days before the changes take effect. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this Policy indicates when it was last revised. Your continued use of the App after the changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.

By using the NajahStudy.in App, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms. If you are under 18 years of age, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian is aware of your use of the App.
